Friends and Friendship
You can always tell a real friend: when you’ve made a fool of yourself, he doesn’t feel you’ve done a permanent job. (Laurence J. Peter)
A lot of people go through life with only a few friends. It seems that some have less than that. They have no one on whom they can call in good times or bad. There is no one with whom to bounce ideas around, or to talk about deep and troubling subjects. They have no one to call in times of need or difficulty. They are at the mercy of life, standing alone.
Others seem to have a multitude of friends. Wherever they go, people know them, and like to be around them. Should trouble strike, their biggest hesitation might be over which friend to call. They know exactly the person with whom to discuss the topics of inquiry and debate. Life is full of entertaining and invigorating relationships because it is full of friends.
There ought to be a course in school on friendship. Of course, some people are perfectly happy to operate with fewer friends. They might rather have a few deep and loyal friends, than many superficial ones. Others thrive best when friends are everywhere and numerous. It is not so much the number of friends that is important as is the possession of friends, period.
Friendship is a blessing...
Friendship is a blessing, and a friend is the channel through whom great emotional, spiritual, and sometimes even physical blessings flow. Friends can cheer us when we’re sorrowful or depressed. Friends can challenge us when we allow ourselves to get beyond our reasonable boundaries. Friends can motivate us when we’re ready to give in, and they can provide for us when life falls apart. They are there when all is well, and we want someone with whom to share life’s pleasant and memorable moments. We often just want them around to have a good time, to laugh, to act silly, to enjoy some mutually liked activity. In how many ways have friends enriched our lives and made us feel loved, accepted, respected and cared for? Probably, too many to list, and the list grows daily.
It is safe to say that when God created the world and all the majestic things in it, when he streaked the heavens with radiant color and the earth with grand mountains and awe-inspiring canyons, when he painted the plains with waving grasses and erected noble forests of towering trees, he outdid it all by creating friends. Why not take a moment or two and thank someone today for being a friend to you?
May God bless you with all the friends you need, and may he turn you into a blessing by using you as a friend to others.
T he best phrase to describe a true friend is very simple, someone you can commit a great deal of trust and will never leave you at all times. In choosing friends we have to be cautious because nowadays, people tend to be good to you only when they knew that they can dig something out from you. As a human being, we long to have the same affection we share with others, nevertheless, we can’t just count on someone you have known for a short time. It should pass the extreme test of life before you can tell whether it is real or fictitious.
Oftentimes, it’s difficult to confide with anyone else even the one whom you thought your dearest friend can turn out as your great enemy and stab you from behind. It happens, yes and it feels very disappointing yet inevitable. Give a million chance to your enemy to be your friend but do not give a single chance to your friend to be your enemy. If you’re fortunate you can find a true friend for those circumstances you didn’t expect. Sometimes the one who’s being despised often at the end will be the one who will defend you and carry you at your heaviest times. In return, we must make them feel sufficiently well and be there for them as they did for us.
There are instances that you prefer to be with a friend rather than your relatives. You want serious and private conversation. This is when you mostly enjoy sharing about love life and secrets and just knock you of your friends bonding moment. Friendship bond is one symbol you can truly consider as a precious connection with them. I’ve seen a lot of it, multicolored, knitted, etc. but the best bond I’ve seen so far was the silver gemstones bracelet. Besides of its elegance, it is more attractive and durable that can be kept for a long time so as your friendship. You can find personalized friendship bond at a cheaper price if you buy or order directly from the manufacturer.
Friends are blessings but don’t count them instead count on them and never forget to thank God for those blessings.
Self Improvement - 10 POINTS TO MAINTAIN FRIENDSHIP
1. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN GIVE TO A FRIEND, NOT WHAT YOU CAN GET OUT OF A FRIENDSHIP.
- If being happy is your only motive for wanting someone to be your friend, then you are not being a real friend. Don't get caught up in keeping tabs on who has given most in the friendship. Give to your friends regardless of how much they give to you.
2. ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIEND.
- Real friends inspire and push each other to be the best that they can be, rather than drag each other down. They are happy when other people achieve their goals.
3. BE WILLING TO FORGIVE.
- Don't let hurt turn to grudge. This is one sure way to destroy a friendship. Forgive your friend and move on.
4. TACTFULLY POINT OUT THEIR MISTAKES.
- This is one way to show concern for others. If you really care, you will tactfully point out a specific example for his own good. But once you've brought the problem to your friend's attention, don't harp on it all the time. Don't walk away from a friendship when you see some of your friend's faults. Be patient with a friend as he or she tries to change. Realize that nobody is perfect.
5. BE RELIABLE.
- When you say you are going to be there, be there.
6. DON'T TRY TO CONTROL YOUR FRIENDS.
- Real friendship does not mean you always have to be together. It may be tempting to have a fun person all to yourself, and feel threatened when your friend spends time with others. If you are afraid to let your friends out of your sight, you are probably afraid of losing them. Good friendship will endure time spent apart. You and your friends may learn to appreciate each other even more.
7. BE THERE FOR THE GOOD AND THE BAD TIMES.
- Celebrate with them if your friends are excited about something. But don't be there just for the good times. When your friend is upset about something, give them your full attention. Most of the time, what friends really need is a sympathetic ear, someone who understand their feelings.
8. LEARN TO ACCEPT PERSONALITY DIFFERENCES IN YOUR FRIENDS.
- Be careful not to evaluate other people by how you react in a particular situation. Do not automatically take your friends' behaviour personally.
9. DON'T BE A BLABBERMOUTH.
- Learn and be willing to keep each other's secrets.
10.DON'T LET ARGUMENTS DESTROY YOUR FRIENDSHIP.
- Suppose you're having a discussion with a friend and after you've said what you think is true, they still disagree. Don't keep arguing until you get mad with each other. Just drop it. Your desire to win the argument may ruin your friendship.
